There’s a hot sauce I regularly get that’s scorpion pepper and prickly pear and it’s amazing. Fruity to the point of being almost bubble gum sweet at first and then the heat hits.

Having had an unfortunate amount of personal experience with a diagnosed narcissist, can confirm that that is a highly effective strategy. You can’t ‘logic’ someone who’s operating in a completely different reality and justified outrage just results in them playing the victim. Laughing at them makes them completely fucking short circuit. Hell, look at how disproportionate Trump’s response was to SNL satirizing him.

Tbf, there are definitely some items that just REALLY do not work well with self check. Really light items that it can’t properly sense the weight on or anything age restricted are the first 2 that spring to mind but I’m sure there are others.

No matter how good at self check you are, if your order contains a greeting card and a box of cold medicine odds are the damn thing is gonna completely shit the bed.

The point I was trying to make was “because profit”. I was just trying to say it was plausible that some asshat in marketing said that design would sell better for appearance reasons as well. That’s not benefit of the doubt, that’s just a different way of being profit over product.

Edit - top opening bottles tend to be taller and thinner than bottom opening for balance reasons. A certain subset of consumers are gonna assume taller bottle means more product and buy it. So there you go-a possible profit driven aesthetic reason. There was literally a post here the other day with Coke cans doing essentially the same fucking thing.

Tbf, it’s entirely possible you’re both right and the reason is “this bottle sells better because it looks nice”

Because that’s the line that might actually lose them some supporters and they know it. There’s still a pretty big chunk of that camp that likes to pretend “oh, that was out of context” or “oh, they didn’t mean it that way, just about insert specific situation here”. If they go all in with straight up racial slurs those deflections don’t really work anymore.

That being said, I wouldn’t put it past Trump to slip up on that soon because he’s been starting to get a bit unhinged even by his usual standard as of late.
