Haha and Reddit ofc asks you the same. But I have the feeling that it’s more widespread practice nowadays. I haven’t seen this in Europe that strongly yet though. Seems like there are more proective data regulation laws.
This seems to be non-compliant to the GDPR:
Under Article 17 of the UK GDPR individuals have the right to have personal data erased. This is also known as the ‘right to be forgotten’.
You should be able to control your information because it’s yours afterall.
Defederation can go as far as including any instance that federates with Meta, even if they don’t do this directly.
