You’re right, there are a lot of athiests out there like that (especially I believe in America where being atheist is less common amongst so many Christians).

These are people who are alike the bad christians you describe

But there are a lot of good people out there too, who are also atheist. Those you wouldn’t be able to distinguish between your good Christian friends.

In the end people are people, no matter what they believe in, some will be bad, some will be good and most will be somewhere in the middle.

If this is something you are struggling with, I recommend looking into your local humanitarian society. They have a lot of resources for people such as yourself while also doing social outreach and charity work.

If there isn’t one local, I can reccomend watching some of Genetically Modified Skeptics videos on YouTube. He is a former christian who perhaps has walked a similar path as you.
