Ukraine@sopuli.xyz•Drone Crashes Near Putin’s Secretive Black Sea Palace, Killing Four on BeachEnglish
16·1 day agoRussian authorities denied that the property, which at the time of construction boasted an “aquatic disco,” hookah lounge, casino, pole-dancing room, and a room for miniature railroads, belonged to Putin.
Former KGB colonel turned dictator and international menace chooses to decorate his secret hideout like a Bond villain. Yeah, that’s about right.
In 2024, Russian opposition website “Proekt” claimed that the palace had been refurbished to reflect the Russian president’s newfound fixation with religion, writing: “The renovated version does not feature a casino, a striptease hall, or an arcade room. Instead, it has a chapel housing an icon of Saint Vladimir, Putin’s patron saint.”
And then he got real, real weird.

10·2 days agoIn an effort to stabilize domestic supplies, Russia recently imported around 30,000 metric tons of AI-92 gasoline by sea from Morocco, Reuters reported on July 31, citing industry sources. According to the report, the shipment was delivered aboard a Panama-flagged tanker that loaded fuel at the Moroccan port of Tangier in mid-July before arriving at the Arctic port of Murmansk.
All the way to Murmansk? Obviously Novorossiysk is out, but even the Baltic ports aren’t safe? That’s unfortunate.

If the Nazis had started the Holocaust because one of the countries they attacked bombed some German warehouses, maybe you’d have a stronger point. Instead, you come across as a dishonest fool.

Ukraine@sopuli.xyz•Israel Blocked Transfer of U.S. Iron Dome Systems to Ukraine Over Fears of Technology Leaks to IranEnglish
2·3 days agoIt’s a weapons system Israel developed to deal with a real threat they experience, so prioritizing their own safety wouldn’t be a surprising choice. And if that were why they did it, it would be unfortunate but fair because defending yourself before helping others is a rational choice.
However, the real reason is because Bibi has been unwilling to do anything to upset the relationship with Russia for a long time, and the Ukrainians aren’t under any illusions about what their own relationship with Israel is actually like. That’s why thats tied buying the systems through the US.

18·3 days agoIt’s just an excuse, obviously. The real reason is because Bibi doesn’t want to do anything to upset Putin, and it’s been that way for years - they’ve always refused requests for military aid, they’ve never condemned the Russian invasion themselves or as part of the UN, they happily buy grain stolen from Ukraine.
This was as predictable as Trump backtracking on patriot interceptor licensing, maybe more so because Bibi is merely an evil piece of shit but Trump’s also demented.

20·4 days agoI can understand saying they’re not liable for losses due to force majeure, but I’m surprised she directly said people should wait for the Russian government to do something. Maybe there’s something in the works or I’m reading too much into it, but that seems a bit like actually placing the blame where it belongs.

Please stop. Iran’s government is an authoritarian theocracy with, among other things, a very recent history of massacring and persecuting their own people for protesting said government. They’re absolutely horrible and remain so despite fighting other states with horrible governments.
