There is a very long worldwide stereotype of ultra-wealthy persons. Specifically, that all of them are evil and/or ungenerous. Obviously, this is grossly inaccurate. Bill Gates is one of the most generous persons among the ultra-wealthy.
The other claims about Bill Gates being made in this thread are exactly that -> claims.
If you are referencing this article, then he isn’t funding anything. He is willing to consider backing a TikTok like platform that uses the AT Protocol.
Arguably, ActivityPub has its shortcomings. Also, having another protocol similar to ActivityPub creates more competition which drives innovation (and gets people away from corporate-controlled sites like Meta).
Precisely!
I was part of the beta testing team. I enjoy it immensely and hope to see more and more of my friends and family use it.
I’ve used this for years. Love it!
Confronted with information that could shake their worldviews, people can now search for confirming evidence and mainline conspiracist feeds or decontextualized videos. They can ask AI and their favorite influencers to tell them why they are right. They can build tailored feeds and watch as algorithms deliver what they’re looking for. And they will be overwhelmed with data.
This is, precisely, what morons do. How do you fix stupid?
Agreed and thanks!
My family is barely middle class…
Same for us. That’s why we moved to inland (away from the coast) Maine. It’s fairly rural but within 45-60 minute drive to medium-sized cities. Most everyone living in our area commutes this for work. However, at home our money goes a long way.
While you are trying to immigrate out of the US you could consider moving to a more Democratic state such as California or Maine.
There is a ton of news coverage on this. Here’s an Axios article with a decent summary.
@[email protected] Is there any way to set this up?
Maybe I could put a clipboard inside where people can write down their requests?
How about something a little more private? Let’s say a ‘Request Box’ where they can grab a card, check boxes of things they want with a blank write-in area to cover what’s not on the card.
Is there anything at all left…
For now, there is National Public Radio and the Associated Press.
