I’ve indefinitely borrowed an old underpowered Lenovo Miix from my friend which I pretty much fucked up. It used to run Windows 10 b4 I nuked it w Arch the instant I got it. it installed just fine and connected to the WiFi in the live ISO but it doesn’t on baremetal. doesn’t matter if I do lspci or whatever, the NIC’s a bloody ghost. I’ve yet to figure this out but tried a remedy that failed. can’t even distro hop to LMDE or downgrade to Win10. none of these ISOs even load to memory cuz it barely has any. this “laptop” even has an Arch Wiki entry. apparently the NIC works on Ubuntu but even that I can’t install lol. my PC doesn’t have WiFi so this’ the first time I experienced the Linux WiFi NIC debacle.
regardless if you ever buy Lenovo again, please make sure to identify the NIC and that it actually works on Linux rn. don’t buy one that’s planned to be compatible.

is it intriguing? sure, why not.
does that make it infallible to criticism? certainly not.
can certain people critique in a not so productive way? ofc.
does that make their criticism lose merit? partly.
the criticism put forth by the initial commentor is quite justified. but how abt their delivery? you seem to have made up your mind on that one.
this partnership is not a silver bullet that’ll end the OPSEC cold war. and treating it and GOS as such is utterly stupid. yes, GOS’ the best in this sector and quite bulletproof. but it does not make it invincible. if it had reached perfection then this partnership would be useless and GOS’ wouldn’t need to iterate. Jolla+Sailfish’s the rookie that needs to prove themselves in the same proving grounds that’s battlehardened GOS.
I’ve noticed that GrapheneOS users are particularly aggressive.
astute observation. the Linux community has plenty of them too. but w both groups people go poking the angry black bear and then cry out aggravation. kinda the same thing w researchers now that I think abt it.

This is why we can’t have nice things. Everytime something took a step in the right direction the past two decades in open source, someone started throwing toenails around, scaring off people.
nice to see GrapheneOS getting the kudos they deserve.
somehow Israel’s in the middle of all of this
did I get the ticket for makin fun of the English? if so, god bless the queen.
not versed at all. thanks for the explanation
Ik of yt-dlp being able to rename the media that I download using it. but I didn’t use it to get my music. plus it’s not a prob that I have w yt-dlp. even w/o yt-dlp using their same same but not same chars, Linux doesn’t mind ?,* and " in filenames. but I do like the feature as / does present probs.
I didn’t get my music from yt-dlp. and even if the source title contains special chars, yt-dlp uses chars that look the same but aren’t.
edit: am aware of the feature but the one I mentioned does the job for me
trying to remove them so that I can transfer to Android. I can use grep to improve my manual process but I’d love for it to be automatic.
thank you very much
I’ll edit the post w the solution I find but as this can be done many ways, feel free to comment your solution.
for me and those that follow. could you please explain what does what?
basically I’m mirroring my music library to my new phn and Android shits itself when it encounters ?,*," in filenames. I used to manually remove them but today I decided to actually learn how to automate.
exactly what I did. I also didn’t know the existence of rename. how would I go abt using it alongside find?
edit: wrong cmd mentioned

it hasn’t even loaded for me yet and I’ve been here for a min
is the stock of Alaskan origin?
for the most part he didn’t really have a use for it, so I asked if I can buy it off him. he told me it’s really underpowered and told me to test it out. if I could live w it then I can pay him. it’s been a few months now and we’ve both got busy w our lives and it comes up once in a blue moon. I’ve asked him a few times if he wanted it back but neither of us have a use for a shitty laptop w no WiFi lol.
