I almost left Lemmy because of the crap I always had in my feed.
Then I realized all the bottom of the barrel content and takes were all from the hexbear instance. I started blocking any community from that server. It’s like a whole new world

That is true
Right and I get that, and I’m not saying that’s a bad idea, but again I just get a really bad taste in my mouth for policies that aim to save people from themselves. It just feels like the government being a parent instead of a service of the people. Secondly, it doesn’t really fix the root of the problem, which doesn’t always have to be the goal in policies obviously, but reluctantly making people make decisions with higher prices. Where should the government stop then in using higher taxes to get us to do what it wants?
Again, I’m torn on this because it may be the correct thing to do to cut down sugar consumption, but I hate the precedent it creates.
Maybe. A possibility for sure. I’m just not really into policies of trying to save people from themselves.
For me? I do what I can by just avoiding it as much as I can.
No, because just banning things rarely achieves the desired results.
And whether it’s cane sugar or high fructose corn syrup, too much sugar in general is the problem, much more so than the subtle differences between the two.
Yes, I even have a class A CDL. However, I don’t do it much so I’m not the greatest in a big truck and am competent in a regular vehicle
My grandpa would just set the old oil filters when he would change the oil in the 3 farm tractors he owned. He did that for years and 30 years later that spot is still like blacktop. At least it’s only a 2’x2’ spot but I couldn’t imagine if he dumped the actual oil. And that’s only 3 diesel tractors twice a year.
The thought that shops were doing it for years is sad
Yes, even as someone without anxiety this happens. This is especially true if I haven’t gotten enough sleep the last couple/few days. Also, it comes with a hangover besides the physical ailments. Lastly, if I’ve been stressed for a long while about certain things and those eventually get resolved, I’ll still feel anxiety/stress for awhile, it’s what I consider burnout as it applies to me.
Cut out Reddit completely if you haven’t already, that helps a lot.
Reddit is so much bigger, but if you remove that competition to cure the same “itch”… you’ll be here more.
Insulin is worse though because it’s not like it’s a drug that had to be developed and has a billion dollars or more to develop. The case with insulin is blatant price gouging.
This pill, this doesn’t mean it should be as cheap as insulin as the two drugs aren’t equals. It can be priced fairly and still be expensive, we don’t know the economics behind it. Being cheap =/= fair pricing all the time. Like buying a better product that took more to make.
This could still be outrageously priced obviously, but comparing it to insulin is apples to oranges.
Heard about this on the radio yesterday, and looked into it further as we hear about “cancer curing pills” all the time and they usually are nothing. This one does seem to have traction however IF it can make it through human trials. So obviously could mean nothing if it doesn’t pass this phase, and it will be there a long time, but this is very promising news.
I’ll second this. As a transplant of Reddit who used Apollo, Memmy seems to be heavily influenced by Apollo, which imo was an outstanding app.
I also saw all the posts about Sync and had to get caught up. Definitely makes me appreciate this app too.
Well yeah case to case with anything specific is going to be unique, but that is the overall general trend.
This also isn’t one study, it’s a synopsis of lots of data and studies.
Just like you might have the rare 80year old run a 5k, that doesn’t disprove that overall our bodies aren’t physically declining significantly overall by then.
After 20-30 years they don’t add anything as a politician imo. There should be a max of 3 term limits in most political offices on the state and federal level.
You really need me to give you a link to prove that we decline as we age? Really?
That’s also something you could easily google yourself but I have no problem providing some info to you:
More specifically, read the part about “Executive Function”. But the whole thing is worth a read for a good overview.
Agreed.
The power of being an incumbent and having all that money from special interest groups paying you to influence your policies is hard to run against.
Democrat or Republican, why would they walk away from that cash cow? They’re all out for themselves and not for who they represent.
Both him and Biden shouldn’t be in political office, in fact there should be a cutoff and that should be you can’t run after you’re 70. Democrat or Republican people that should be at home retired tending to their garden or fishing shouldn’t be running the country.
It’s scientifically proven your cognitive ability is significantly declining by that age, and not to mention they are almost always out of touch with the modern world we live in.
You feel that? You feel it slipping?
When you have to be this hands on with your site, manipulating it, it just means your circling the drain… slowly working your way down.
It’s going to get exhausting putting out these little fires constantly. If only they had a group of people that would happily do the moderation for them… for free.
But why even acknowledge it if you’re just going to lie about it. Cringe.
Who cares? Without trucks moving goods, we literally have nothing and society as we know it doesn’t exist.
