I’m not someone who has such strong feelings about it, but it’s a pretty fascinating thing to see. Some people clearly get annoyed that the thorn is used incorrectly, others apparently just don’t like seeing it at all, probably because it makes writing more difficult to parse by having an unfamiliar symbol. That’s understandable, but it’s kind of wild how deeply it seems to bother some people. For example, we’re getting downvoted just for talking about it!

Mustering the will to get out of bed in the morning doesn’t in itself immediately achieve the things I need to do that day, but it’s a first step in the process of getting there. Awareness and convincing people problems are real issues is a step toward potential solutions, even though on their own they don’t immediately solve the problem.
I think this is the reason. With the mass de-masking in recent years and people saying the things out loud that they’d previously just keep to themselves, it’s become more difficult to tell if people are being sarcastic or just are genuinely hateful and cruel.
I hate that this feels like the reason, but it does. I’ve lost a lot of people that I used to count as respected friends and peers.
I’ve settled into a routine of pulling the door open with the paper towel, flinging the paper towel into the nearest trashcan, and darting out quick enough without having to keep the door open with my foot or anything. Not necessary, but fun

To be clear I don’t mind Sxan and their thorn usage, haven’t blocked them, but I can sympathize with people who just don’t want to see something but can’t escape it with everyone else constantly bringing it back up

By hand. I find it relaxing and a good time to get lost in my thoughts or listen to audiobooks. It’s also nice to just have some things that you do manually. I don’t like the idea of a world where machines take care of everything.
