On an unrelated note, how do I erase something from my memory banks? (The trick seems to be to leave a placeholder, so that I do not simply and immediately repeat the same trap again; otherwise I could continue seeing the same thing dozens, even hundreds of times, but it would be impossible to know! 🤪)

God, I first heard this on casette tape in like 1989…
I (American) lived in England when this came out. It was quite the phenomenon at the time! I have sung it to myself many times over the years.
US-born, UK-raised, there in '87. TIL there are people (Trek fans, even!) who didn’t know about this!
I think this was all over Europe, it was a big hit in the Netherlands.
