My Ex had a pair of slacks that had “fake pockets” on it. She would complain literally every time she wore them. I just intentionally leave the outer pockets of my suit jackets seen shut. I just use the inner pockets if necessary.
Unless it has a lining, you should be able to determine whether the pockets are real or fake by checking the inner side.
She, unfortunately, wasn’t that bright.
