    “Being American” is apparently a facade based off something that appeared briefly in the 1860s.

    You’d think it’d be from 1776, but they love to rip on the French who 100% carried them to independence and was still nice guy enough to gift them a statue for it too. So, first half of the 1860s; that’s the first and only time where they stood up for themselves and actually won. The only time they were being American and not just playing make-believe.
