• Russia’s war effort is under growing pressure, with mounting military losses, relentless Ukrainian drone strikes on refineries, and attacks damaging nearly 43% of Russia’s refining capacity
  • The U.S. and EU are preparing tougher sanctions, targeting Russia’s oil exports, shadow fleet, and major buyers such as China and India, with tariffs and stricter enforcement aimed at squeezing Moscow’s energy revenues.
  • Economic strains are intensifying, as Russia faces stagnating growth, shrinking sovereign reserves, a worsening fuel crisis, and the prospect of broader conscription after September elections.

Yes well, the USA is too. And, so is Ukraine. Probably Iran too. So, the question really is, who’s going to blink and completely run out first?

Narcissism. Look at what russians are whining about lately, how their business is affected by the wild berries attacks, how they have to queue for days for fuel, but never about innocent Ukrainians dying or even their own people, who are usually from the extremities of russia and don’t even register as real people to them.

They have the same empathy towards human lives that aren’t their own as Nazis did about untermensch.

I genuinely think that Stalin’s purges back in the day led to a genetic shift towards compliance, as most that stuck their head out got shot.

Even now, if you look at a population graph of Russia, you see waves of lower population ages due to the soldiers that died in WWII not going on to start families. Why not a similar effect from the purges?

Edit: also, previous conscription waves targeted ethnic minorities and poor folks. As with everywhere else, nobody gives a fuck about poor people.

The 90s were apparently a pretty horrible time to grow up in Russia, and although they might not like Putin they liked the chaos of the 90s even more and fear the chaos that would arise if Putin disappears would be similar to the 90s and prefers the shitty life under Putin or something

They will get a bunch of new soldiers, throw them into the meat-grinder, maybe gain a few sqkm and then the battle front will freeze again. I just hope they fail before winter. Ukraine had a hard winter and they shouldn’t be forced to have another.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whose country has been locked in a war that Russia launched in February 2022, defended the operation, stating that Kyiv had successfully targeted vessels involved in military cargo shipments linked to Iran, alongside a Russian warship.

There you go, and right in the article you linked too !

Now I don’t know if any of this is true, but it appears to be the stated reason.

I think Iran has its hands pretty full fighting the USA and Israel right now. Iran is doing ok at the moment but can see Russia getting its arse whooped by the Ukrainians and cleverly decided they want none of that.

Are attacks against logistics supporting your aggressor not allowed? I suspect arms shipments from Iran to Russia are very much legitimate targets.

It’s not like Iran have held back attacking fellow gulf states even outside the obvious US bases they host.

The way those things tend to be done is that arms shipments to the enemy are attacked when in the territory of the enemy or, at most, international waters.

The reason is pretty simple: it avoids escalating the war beyond control by getting more nations fully involved in the actual fight which would then pull in even more nations with a similar rationale that they support their enemy by sending them weapons.

If it is valid for Ukraine to attack Iran directly because it sells arms to their enemy, then it is equally valid for Russia to attack pretty much every European nation because they sell and even give arms to their enemy.

Activelly going to war with those who supporters one’s enemy merelly with weapons is a Pandora’s Box that’s best left closed.

PS: Also keep in mind that Iran isn’t quite breaking this - they’re attacking American bases from which attacks on Iran are being launched which happen to be in the territory of a 3rd nation, the equivalent to Ukraine attacking Russian bases in Belarous used to attack Ukraine, which is perfectly valid (otherwise countries could just attack other countries with no consequences as long as they did it from the territory of a 3rd country) - they’re not attacking countries which merely sold weapons to America.

Please stop. Iran’s government is an authoritarian theocracy with, among other things, a very recent history of massacring and persecuting their own people for protesting said government. They’re absolutely horrible and remain so despite fighting other states with horrible governments.

Please stop parroting the sociopathic excuses of the evilest people around.

You’re defending victimizing even more Iranian people with the rationale that they’re victims, by supporting foreign aggressors murdering the people of that country with the excuse that their regime “has a very recent history of massacring and persecuting their own people for protesting said government”.

That’s the same sociopathic shit that was used to justify the invasion of Iraq (which directly and indirectly killed an estimated 1.2 million people) and the overthrowing of Gaddafi in Libya where people are still dying today because the country was thrown into a murderous civil war.

It’s the same sociopathic “excuse” that was used by none other than fucking Putin with his fables about how Ukraine was ruled by NAZIs to justify invading Ukraine and killing Ukrainians.

That’s the same family of sociopathic arguments as when Israel talks about how badly homosexuals are treated in Palestine whilst in a “gender orientation”-agnostic way mass murdering Palestinians.

That shit is invariably wheeled out by aggressive, murderous foreign invading regimes (like the ones of American and Russia) to justify doing even more murderous things to the people of a country than those people’s regime ever did to them.

                Please stop.

I don’t really know what you’re talking about and I strung the suspect that you don’t either.

The Iranian people are victims of their own government , it’s absolute garbage institution and should be destroyed and replaced with something that doesn’t carelessly destroy so many innocent lives. If you care about the Iranian people as you say, I have no idea why you want to condemn them to that hell with silence.

That shit is invariably wheeled out by aggressive, murderous foreign invading regimes (like the ones of American and Russia) to justify doing even more murderous things to the people of a country than those people’s regime ever did to them.

The glib willingness with which to write off all their atrocities with whataboutism and minimization is revolting, people like you are why those regimes continue as long as they do. Believe it or not, you can hate all the shitty governments, even when they’re fighting each other.
