I think the larger issue is that SAMP/T and IRIS-T can’t shoot down ballistic missiles (under most circumstances). That’s a bit of an issue. There’s been a lot of hopes and prayers involved in European military planning over the years…
Yes and to be clear I place blame on US leaders for not understanding and also being proactive about the fact that even though the US was happy to do missile defense in the past… leaving it open so that if the US decides to go batshit crazy Europe wouldn’t be placed into existential crisis without ballistic missile defense is a doomsday scenario waiting to happen.
That being said, with this existential strategic blindspot being what it is, Europe should have understood from the beginning what role the Iran War needed to play for Trump and Putin.

I’m not sure how anybody here should have pushed back against the US starting its stupid war. Everybody knew that it was a bad idea, but nobody here has any kind of control over Donald Trump. So can you tell us what we here should have done to prevent the mad US president from starting bombing another country? That hasn’t even worked back in the days with GWB when millions of Europeans protested against the iraq war.
Maybe don’t allow free reign for the US to use your military bases?
Germany and many other countries in the EU think the US and Israel are doing “the dirty work” for Europe in Israel and Iran, and this is the oldest play in the European playbook there has ever been, the US learned all of this from Europe.
Stop pretending like y’all are above this, Europe just realizes that the US has been given all the main lines in this scene of the play so they can just be a prop in the background of the set while still contributing to the production they support and in their heart absolutely wish they could play the main part in themselves…
I am not saying the US isn’t to blame here, obviously it is primarily to blame, but I am getting tired of Europe’s complacency in the face of WW3.

Well, if you want to talk logically about it instead of morally, you’ll not be surprised that Europe, facing the largest land war since WW2 at its doorstep, isn’t very keen on losing the key provider of it’s military deterrence. So, they are forced to keep Trump on board, even if they oppose his actions. Beggars can’t be choosers.
Sure, that might inspire some to resort to ‘gotchas!’, but all that’s showing is those people aren’t interested in actually constructively discussing the problem or even find solutions. So what’s it gonna be?

Show me an example of Aljazeera having heinously distorted coverage of geopolitics from the recent past, especially in the aftermath of launching the Iran War when extensive coverage from different perspectives in the Middle East is as existentially necessary as it has ever been for people to develop a meaningful picture of what is happening… and until then don’t tell me Aljazeera is a “no-no”.
