When we were trying to liquidate my late FILs massive rock collection, one of the rock shops we were recommended ended up being owned by young earth creationists, dude was a geologist who thought all these rocks were 6000 years old. People be crazy.
Weirdly enough geology is (or was 10-15 years ago) a major ‘chud’ science. Any time you saw someone who’s a scientist on TV talking about how climate change isn’t real it was almost always a geologist. I’m not sure why conservatives decided to converge on that, just that it happened
