I’m in a good Blue state. I’ve been on paid leave since May 4. It’ll continue until November 2nd. At that point I’ll have Long Term disability from work and Social Security disability for one year. Yay Blue!
My wife suddenly became gravely ill about 2 years ago. If not for paid sick leave allowing me to care for her and help her recovery after hospitalization we may have ended up homeless, or her dead. Living in a state with paid sick leave requirement is excellent.

Good. It’s the only way you’ll realistically get any of your SS money unless you’re a year away from retirement
