Welcome to what it’s like living in a country where the leadership is awful and all you can really do is feel ashamed. I will say that I don’t think that there’s a chance Canada gets annexed. I won’t say that these fucks in charge won’t try, but I will say that they are so incompetent that there’s zero chance it would be successful. It would be a tragedy for everyone if it comes to that, but look at Iran and the straight of Hormuz and you can be confident that this admin doesn’t have what it takes, regardless of military strength, to annex Canada.
We don’t have anything to defend ourselves. We have like a handful of barely functional aircraft and not a single icebreaker ship. The US could annex canada by force in days, but guerrilla warfare would carry on for years. Canada is so spineless that they won’t even backpedal on our gun policies given these threats. The most firepower I’m allowed to legally have is a chinese SKS.
JD will be the next president and he’s more calculated and dangerous than orange man. Annexation is going to happen is my sad prediction.
When I think of what it would be like, I think of Russia annexing Ukraine. I absolutely think the US has better military tech than Russia, but the leadership to lead a charge is arguably worse. I do think it would get ugly, but I just don’t see it getting done. That’s not to downplay the fallout of it all, and it would be horrible, but imo it would be a catastrophic failure.
There a reports of US munitions being low. The Nazis found what it’s like trying to fight a two front war, and US is already failing in Iran. The resources just aren’t there. I’d also expect that allies would step in to assist Canada and shut down the US. Let’s hope it never comes to that and Trump just keeps blowing smoke, trying to issue illegal tarrifs that keep get blocked, and he dies a horribly painful death, very publicly so we can start to repair and grow. I hope to one day be able to leave the country and not have to hide my nationality out of shame and/or fear.
Fortunately, every time have travelled internationally, I’ve been able to relate with locals on our disgust for this admin.
We’ve clearly got our different opinions, but I think we can agree, Trump sucks and we both want this nightmare to end. Best of luck. Sorry my fellow countrymen suck and put us in this position. This winter will be the third year in a row that I’ll be traveling to Canada to snowboard, and everyone I’ve met there has been great. It’s a beautiful place and I just hope that someday we can all look back on this as a dark shadow on our history that we survived. If I could, I’d buy Canadian products even at a premium just out of solidarity, but unfortunately it’s not quite that easy.
Where are you going to snowboard? Revelstoke? We love seeing your plates here despite what you hear on the media, or from people like me on social media. If you are here spending money we assume you are the good guys. You can even tell people you are american and they will treat you very well.
I hit Whistler probably 5 ish years ago, then Banff the last two and back to Banff this year. My travel companions don’t have the chops to ride Revelstoke and at this point we only go on trips because that’s my passion. The scenery is the big thing they get from it. Revy is definitely on my bucket list, but it will probably be a solo trip someday.
Hopefully someday I’ll have the ability to take off an extended time and just resort hop.
I still go out to Colorado every year to ride the Rockies, hit UP Michigan to ride and Mt Bohemia (smaller but a unique location with mostly alpine terrain), and then my group trip to Canada the past couple years. I want to get to the alps, Japan, and New Zealand sometime while I’m still physically able to enjoy the terrain. Alaska would be cool, but to make it worth it, you got to to back country. I’m confident I can do some guided tours, no big spines like on NST, but I don’t got the funds to pull that off.
I’m definitely gonna try to hit revy in the next few years so long as I’m still allowed to enter the country.

Canada is also extremely hostile terrain, kind of like Iran, and I think that would prevent a clean annexation regardless of military strength
I think of the winter war, where Finns were outnumbered by Russians 100 to 1 but still won because they could ski in snow

Banff and Whistler are where we tell people to go so we have the rest to ourselves. You should look into Rossland. It’s an amazing place hardy known
Revy is my dream town by the way. I will retire there
