Cooking is all made up anyways. Plus “you wouldn’t put it in a fruit salad” sounds like an argument made up purely to counter the pedantry of bringing up botany definitions. Like the first one (“these are actually fruits/berries!”) seems like fun and interesting while “but you wouldn’t put them in a fruit salad” just seems like a lame one up from someone who needs to get the last word in, like they need to warn people against making tomato pies or some shit where understanding the botany definition is dangerous to cooking.
