Noone could have possibly anticipated this
microsoft is trying to pass the AI cost to customers, via windows 11.
They must just need more time to do the right thing naturally without being legally obligated?
Self regulation and the free* markets in action
why?
because fuck you. that’s why.
Sony already don’t want me to buy their games, so at least they’ve ensure they don’t owe me a refund.
greedy fucks have no heart nor soul for anyone but themselves
I can’t really blame them. I wouldn’t expect a check in the mail from Starbucks because of their coffee bean tariffs were refunded.
I really hate that companies being hostile to their customers has become normalised such that it’s really expected.
There’s very clearly a right and scrupulous thing to do. Not having an obligation to do that is not an excuse not to.
Companies always has been hostile when they are so big that they are only fathomable as market entity. Privatise gains, socialise losses.
The reality is that it was all just a way to give a stimulus to companies without saying directly
That’s obvious, and it’s not what I’m talking about.
And we have no obligation to buy their products. Bodycott is the only language companies understand
Not surprising considering most companies have no plans to refund the consumer for the tariff costs they passed on because there’s no regulation forcing them to do so.
did most companies pass it on though? some didnt and in those cases why should they?
And they’re not.
And you’re not obligated to buy their products
And I don’t. Those 800 games that I haven’t touched aren’t going to play themselves.
Is piracy a thing on modern consoles?
Look into the bounty on a PS5 firmware crack.
15k seems like a nice sum. I’m guessing it’s pretty locked down if a few months’ pay hasn’t led to anything
Use emulation. Can’t play the latest, but there’s no shortage
I figured. DS had great piracy, which is where my burgeoning hope was pulled from.
Switch has great support too. Older models could be modded without requiring hardware modification the later ones like the oled did.
Depends on your firmware and such. It often takes time, but they’ll all be jailbroken eventually.
Neither one sussists on consumer products lol
yeah fuck you too
They make it so much easier for us nerds to tell the normies that these companies suck and to not buy shit from them. Broken ad infested OS, no disk Sony drama, and now this.
Just to highlight the good actors too:
For one thing, Arctic announced a price rollback after securing its refund, saying this will continue until “every single dollar Arctic received […] has been paid back to our customers.”
Panic, maker of the Playdate handheld, has taken a bolder stance, offering refunds to those who bought its console and were charged extra for its tariffs. Company co-founder Cabel Sasser said last month, “It’s just not our money to keep.”
Playdate handheld
That thing is so hilariously overpriced in the first place, that a few bucks don’t make any difference neither to the seller, nor the consumer.
Please don’t forget who enacted these unlawful tariffs in the first place and who, to this day, uses them to blackmail other countries.
Also, don’t forget that US corporations have gone along with this and are refusing to give the money back to the people who they took it from. The entire system is complicit and there are no good guys anymore.
