Yep. The excuse was “but we earned far less back then too!” and then you have to show them what their income actually was scaled to 2026 inflation. And then they shut up for a bit. Until they bring it up again.
In my limited experience, they are not interested in factual truth as much as they just want their opinion and biases validated. When push comes to shove, they’ll fall back to “everyone’s entitled to their opinion” (which they don’t apply consistently to others with differing opinions).
Oh absolutely. They nod sympathetically during the explanation, but do not absorb it. Hence the repetitive cycle
