Owners pay workers,
As little as possible,
Workers vote for that
If workers consistently elected the platform with pro-worker planks and has passed bills when they had enough majority, all could have healthcare even when laid off so Evil Corp can make the extra 0.03% profit, paid sick and family leave and school meals for students, all help working families and basic expectations in other countries. All this reduces the artificial scarcity that the owners inflict on us.
Find out more here or on your own, but check sources. Q: How does artificial scarcity of basic needs, make it hard for people to feel and do better in life and they numb with social media, which makes it worse?

Poor little capitalism and helpless billionaires are being suppressed by the all mighty socialism and the overwhelming might of the workforce!
…Is what I wish I could claim. I mean can you imagine? One can dream.
Reminds me of everyone who was saying “This thing happening under Trump is like a trial run of the Biden Administration”
The people are just that fucking dumb
It astounds me that people fall for this shit
They don’t. It’s just a dogwhistle for racism. It doesn’t have to make sense.
You are giving people too much credit
It astounds me people still vote for Malcolm Roberts, how is this dickhead still in parliament?!
In May 2026, Malcolm Roberts was quoted saying he was ‘in two minds’ as to whether gay people should be considered equal.
He’s also a climate change denier, sovereign citizen and supporter of a total abortion ban in Australia. Basically he’s a complete piece of shit.
have you not met any Australian voters?
paraphrasing Donald Horne, we’re a nation of fools voting for idiots
Yeah, it just surprises me how low we can go =(
Hell, I was listening renown family man Barnaby Joyce on ABC radio this morning and I’m amazed at some of the morons who manage to get voted into gov positions.
I loved watching him avoid highlighting how much poorer future elderly Australians will be with their shit super plan like the piece of shit that he is. This is “just print more money” all over again …
He’s a senator, and so he doesn’t have to do anything since he’s on the top of the One Nation ticket. The continuing and increasing popularity of that party certainly says something about the Australian people, however.
Some of it is stupidly falling for it… But don’t underestimate how much of it is either bad faith actors or people who just want to beleive it.
All they need is someone to say the thing they want to hear and that settles it… Socialism bad see?
In capitalism the gains are privatized, losses are socialized.
The material conditions are not right for true capitalism with trickle-down yet.
I don’t know, I’m feeling pretty trickled on in this economy 😿
Actual capitalism has been suppressed in the US for a long time, don’t let it happen to you. A little kids lemon juice stand being shut down for not having a permit is a perfect example, while corpos getting away with killing people is just the cost of business.
Edit: I think whoever down voted me probably misunderstood me.
Personally, I buy and sell equipment; things that people need, and are almost always broken. I fix the stuff and sell it reasonably, I do have some altruistic tendencies. Like the washer or dryer that will just end up at the dump gets fixed for someone that’s in a pinch. The capitalism that people hate is companies like microsoft and sony.
As in why do my sony earbuds not work with the playstation that cost more than the console, but work with everything else. Oh because they want you to buy their console headset.
My point overall was that, when it comes to a person, capitalism is heavily regulated; but a giant company gets to get away with anything.
You being your own boss isn’t being a capitalist.
What we see in the US is actually the end form of capitalism where it transcended the market to influence politics and capture the market even more.
Free markets aren’t exclusive to capitalism, and I would argue that the markets would be freer under socialism as it would respond to the needs of the community first and foremost.
You’re right, that would probably be better for all of us. I’ve listened to a lot of speeches by Michael Parenti; there are way better systems than what we have to put up with. He discusses this subject really well and I think that we could potentially take steps back in society and restore a better world. I try to make a difference, I don’t like seeing all of us get fucked over and over for profit. It’s unnecessary.
Kind of like how socialism failing and reverting to capitalism (USSR, Yugoslavia) is the fault of capitalism.
What?
I don’t know, this looks like a toilet paper shortage, which was caused by COVID paranoia. I don’t think that was either Capitalist or Socialist.
The toilet paper shortage was absolutely the fault of capitalism. The minimizing of supply chains due to just in time shipping practices as well as inflexibility due to over-specialization between household and commercial supply exacerbated the temporary shortage due to panic into a long term drought.
A healthy conspiracist might notice that these memes got disseminated like mad during COVID, lest the masses get socialism-curious.
COVID should have provided the basis for the biggest labour movement in history. Instead the biggest protest in Australian history was not in aid of higher pay, extending guaranteed sick leave, more essential services, expanding healthcare and socialising all medicine, or even stopping climate change; it was in aid of ending lockdowns.
I will never understand why so many people were willing to believe it was a hoax.
My mum ended up on a ventilator after getting covid and not taking it seriously because she was brainwashed by my antivaxx sisters. She kept refusing the ventilator until she was actually suffocating. Then my oldest sister actually tried to persuade my dad to have the doctors take my mum off the ventilator because it’s all a big conspiracy.
She has a master’s in microbiology (or biochemistry, I forget which). There is no depth that stupidity can’t reach with some people. She also doesn’t believe in soap.
Did your mom come around or does she still believe she couldn’t breathe because of a hoax?
It took that to make her realise the doctors were right, yeah.
Nobody with a grad degree in microbiology or biochemistry could possibly both earn that degree legitimately and still not believe germ theory and basic preventive measures to spreading infections and diseases, like washing your hands with soap.
She must be a stinky motherfucker to not use soap in the shower. Does she also not use soap on her dirty dishes? How about laundry? The carwash? The effectiveness of soap is like fucking BIO101. Inexcusable. Tell her that this stranger on the internet says she’s a fucking moron who needs to set her degree on fire and go apologize to the nearest tree for wasting so much oxygen on her stupid fucking excuse for a brain. Goddamn, I hate people.
She wasn’t antivaxx back then, she got her master’s around 2002. I’ve forgotten the name, but it was the same university Louise Woodward (?) went to. So I can look it up. Okay, it was Southbank.
During lockdown, her kids had to stay with us while they took their youngest to A&E, and her other daughter said she can’t use soap after using the toilet because “mum says I’m allergic”. I said you are not, if your skin is sensitive, then you can use the baby shower gel. And I made her go down and wash her hands with soap and then I had to disinfectant wipe all the door handles.
No, I won’t tell my sister that because I don’t talk to her.
The rampant usage of the misinformation machines in everyone’s pockets and a blatant lack of a basic understanding of statistics.
Oh and a healthy dose survivors bias.
Feels nicer to believe it’s all because of some nefarious pranksters than accept nature is random and cruel and viruses really can arise at any time and just tear down your world. If it’s all fake, there’s a tangible enemy and someone to blame.
I used to live in Florida. You could make this meme every year with water, gas, batteries, and most food products.
None of it ever mattered. I knew COVID wouldn’t be a wake up call.
Still don’t understand why toilet paper went out of stock but hand sanitiser, masks, cleaning equipment, shelf stable food didn’t
What do you mean? All that stuff experienced shortages.
Not here lol, surpluses everywhere I shopped
They did in the UK. Stupid panic buyers didn’t realise that they also need other people to wash their hands too.
