There’s something to the front yard that I’d never thought about. Yes back yard does work well too, but it feels more private and invite only. Whereas the front yard would feel more like an invitation for anyone to drop by. Like a neighbor from the next street over going for a walk. It seems like a more open social event that lets you get to know more people than the neighbors you’re already acquainted with.
Front yards are for block parties but nowadays everyone just hates everyone so they go home and close the shades./jk
