I can’t help but remember the old image of a millennial going “Al has a stable job, a hot wife that always wants sex, and a large home. I’d love to have his life” or something to that effect.
Bro had a two story house in the suburbs raising two kids on a shoe salesman job. Who wouldn’t want that?
I mean, he also had a car that he had to push both to and from work (since it would be too far to walk) and frequently ate Tang sandwiches. Probably not the best life.
I wish I could afford tang.

Could do without the suburbs part
I actually think the idea of Married with Children could be a fun show. I tried watching an episode and shut it off about 3 minutes in after I heard the laugh track. It’s probably got some funny moments, but I wouldn’t know.
It’s really campy but it’s got some great moments. And it’s got Katie Segal.
That’s just how sitcoms were done in that era.
It’s very much a product of its time. There are still a ton of good jokes in there, but there are at least a few jokes per episode very clearly punching down and mean-spirited in a way that’s very uncomfortable, or just plain tone-deaf to modern sensibilities. If you can let those roll off you as being a product of 30 years ago, you can still enjoy it.
Incidentally, it’s not just Married With Children… there’s tons of problematic stuff from this era. Family Matters was a very progressive family sitcom for the time, but it still eventually turns into Jaleel White doing an offensive generic Asian accent pretending to be Bruce Lee.

The humour of it is basically each character hurling insults at the other characters. Personally never been a fan of it either.
