I didn’t realise it would be so controversial to say “maybe forgive the overheated rhetoric of someone who probably agrees with >80% of your politics but has clearly emotional issues around a subject”, I’ll try to keep in mind that respectability politics are still somehow respectable to some. Oh, you’re taking the guy at face value. Yeah no, that would be insane, right? I read him as a burned-out bad luck nebbish who has massive blatant trauma and talks shit (externalises) to cope. Not a hero by any means, but definitely a person in pain whose heart isn’t that far from the right place.
