    It seems like a lot of this comes down to “the bike and pedestrian stuff is better for everyone, even drivers. But some people just don’t believe that, despite all evidence”

    I don’t have a car, so I usually carpool with a friend and we drive 20min one way to the grocery store. I don’t understand why the answer is to make the drive take longer? Why can’t I have a functional bus system instead, or a closer grocery store I didn’t need to drive to?

      It’s not either or, it is both.

      You deserve a grocery store nearby. You also deserve not to be hit by a driver while walking to that grocery store.

        Right, but the proposal in the article is “traffic fatalities is because traffic goes too fast, make them drive slower”, then they wonder why it’s not popular. It’s rare that I see proposals actually bringing forth things that would reduce the amount of traffic needed.
