    Alphabet, the parent company of Google, reported a 298% rise in net income to $112.1bn for the second quarter of 2026 (Q2 2026), compared to $28.2bn in the same period the previous year.

    Barely a drop in the bucket. Just the price of doing business.

    These fines need to increase by like a factor of 100, or key decision makers need to see serous jail time.

      Bingo on the second point especially. The whole idea of only “punishing” the corporation and not holding key people accountable is insane. If the board room discussion went from “this may earn us a fine” to “this may earn each of us 10-15 years in prison”, I think there’d be a lot less corporate shit like this.
