Or ‘What is PeerTube lacking that you simply cannot do without?’
I believe it’s a safe assumption that fediverse users want to move away from the monopolies and closed gardens so often associated with video streaming, and yet it’s not a task that’s ever been made easy. Maybe an ounce of inspiration is the cue we need, and so my question to you is; What’s Stopping you from using PeerTube?

It’s hard to find content if it’s not linked from elsewhere. I understand that building algorithms is hard, and each instance being independent adds challenges. Search will hopefully improve with time.
The best suggestion I could get would be to have manual curation in the app. Have volunteers manually select content for a series of channels that makes high-quality content instantly visible, whether it’s vlogs about Linux, discussions of photography, or public domain movies.
Algorithms will probably work well one day, but until then there’s nothing wrong with human curation.
Is it currently possible to view a feed of all your followed instances? That would solve 90% of my problems.
Then yeah, a basic discoverability algo wouldn’t be rocket science honestly. People have been making these for decades. You could just use a tag based system where creators include tags in their videos and those would invite similarly tagged videos to appear in your feed.
a recommendation system made by users sounds dope
