Recovered from the largest economic crash since 1929, passed sweeping healthcare reform, saved the union-heavy domestic auto industry, established the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to protect borrowers from predatory lending practices and prevent another Great Recession…
Biden
Passed law to build infrastructure and green energy, funneled subsidies only to companies with organized labor, made it possible to negotiate the price of pharmaceuticals starting with insulin, enacted a measure to reduce GHG emissions by 40% by 2030, actually pulled out of Afghanistan, finally, passed healthcare and disability for service members and their families for injuries caused my toxic chemicals, stimulated domestic semiconductor manufacturing, appointed trans and BIPOC in his government, wielded antitrust action to get rid of junk fees and hidden fees, blocked several harmful corporate mergers, recovered the economy after COVID and brought down inflation without triggering a recession, which economists thought was impossible…
Yeah they don’t do anything guys…
Both of these were in spans of two years because the people who elect Democrats are too lazy or stupid to vote in midterms.
Obama didn’t go far enough, and should have delivered Medicare for All like what was originally promised during the New Deal.
Biden didn’t go far enough in improving infrastructure in this country, and should have deployed the military on US soil to do sweeping infrastructure upgrades across the country while at the same time creating a guaranteed jobs program that trains people for valuable skills that don’t involve killing other humans.
It is wise to assume that Democrats will always half ass progress in this country because they are beholden to the same corporate interests as Republicans. That’s not to say that they won’t full ass some things, especially regarding social liberties like with gay marriage under Obama, but it’s rare and is always a fight. Democrats will never push max left policies, unless Democratic Socialists take office.
If they do that this time, it will end the United States.
The Democrats need to get into power, and they need to fix things starting with complex matters like SCOTUS and elections.
If they don’t get into power; if they don’t get busy right away fixing things, then it falls to the people to organize twelve million strong under a common manifesto.
And all this assumes something doesn’t go sideways, like Trump commanding a nuclear first strike, or AI escaping containment under the command of iran’s non-state actors, or a bad run of consecutive climatedriven natural disasters overwhelming all responders.
Essentially the goblin army is at the gates of Minas Tirith. A lot has to go right if we’re going to get out of this mess.
If we don’t, quarries, oilfields and data centers as far as the eye can see!
My votes align with my politics in all elections. The democrats seem to accept that their police state, genocidal project, and oil barons are more important than my vote, why can’t you?
You are mistaken, I don’t care about your vote. You vote however you want, that’s the beauty of this country, you know, freedom and all that.
But you asked what “holding accountable” means to a politican, I answered.
My only thing is people on the left trying to blame me and the politicians I supported for the rise of fascism when they themselves couldn’t hold their nose and actually vote against fascism. No one forces you to participate in the political process, but you also had a role in allowing the current shitshow to happen. You could’ve helped stop it and you didn’t
Withholding your vote in the general election is a great way to elect Republicans. How’s that been going? Oh I know! I’ll ask Alex Pretti and Renee Good if they think it’s working.
Should we got tit for tat on victims of political violence and what presidency they died under, or does only count as a police state if it effects good proper whites?
Because I remember considering ICEs agency gestapo with concentration camps during Trump 1 and all the democrats did was give them more money.
You genuinely can’t be this dumb. There’s a giant difference between “blue in the white house” and “blue in power”. Yes, every bit helps, but we’ve had very few times where blue was truly in power, as in, White House, Senate, House were all blue majority. In those rare times, things did get better. Not fucking perfect, but way better.
And I still need all the haters to actually propose a real alternative that doesn’t involve wishful thinking, expecting millions to risk their life and liberty, or doesn’t sacrifice minoritized people on the altar of accelerationism. How many walmarts have you bombed recently?
It’s still much better than what we had before, which was:
You get sick.
You try to see a specialist, but your insurance sucks and doesn’t cover being alive.
Oh well. You pay to get that CT Scan and it turns out you have cancer.
Sounds expensive. Your insurance calls that a “preexisting condition” and drops you. You can’t buy insurance.
Oh well at least you still have a jo–FIRED lol
We all get it. Healthcare in the US is still a clusterfuck and we need a nationalized system, but writing off ACA is childish bullshit. There’s a reason the vampires in the GOP tried to repeal it over 60 times over the course of 10 years. If the GOP is against it, that’s usually a good sign that it’s good, even if it’s not great.
If after 16 years all you have to say for the effort to tackle the clusterfuck of American healthcare is “well at least we stopped them rejecting you for having a body” its a fucking pathetic showing and I think they should be ashamed.
No shit it was worse. But if someone says your party is politically worthless election losers and your response is “Oh yeah, well 16 years ago we did everything down to pulling senators out of the hospital to scrape together enough of a majority, and all we got out of it was shaving off the two most egregious methods of predation from the healthcare industry” Sounds like your party is politically worthless and loses elections because of it.
Blue when in power: But boo hoo we are so powerless we cannot undo any of these anti-trans laws red put in place.
Hey now, that’s not true! Remember when Biden fixed the Roe v Wade situation? Remember when Obama closed Guantanamo bay like he promised?
This meme also applies to the mls asking people to sit out
Blue while in power:
Obama
Biden

We need to do a better job of holding them accountable, but it’s clear to me that is easier to do with our freedom of speech intact.
Genuinely what does “holding accountable” mean to a politician if not withholding your vote?
Voting them out in the primaries for a candidate who actually aligns with your interests.
My votes align with my politics in all elections. The democrats seem to accept that their police state, genocidal project, and oil barons are more important than my vote, why can’t you?

Yes, you should not depend on the results of one election to fix everything. Freedom requires eternal vigilance.
Obamacare?

You’re absolutely right. It was much better when you couldn’t get health insurance because you got sunburned once.
