Everyone who wants to avoid urinary incontinence issues should do pelvic floor exercises. I don’t see it spoken about for men as much as women (women are advised to do this during and after pregnancy especially), but everyone can benefit from it.

To identify the feeling of contracting your pelvic floor muscles, try stopping peeing when you’re mid stream (though this is just to help you identify them — you shouldn’t regularly practice this way, as it can lead to UTIs).

The way to practice is to squeeze your pelvic floor muscles, trying not to pull your tummy in (or to squeeze your glutes). Hold this for two seconds, then relax. Repeat 10 times. Doing this daily is advised, and over time, you can increase the amount of time you hold the squeeze for to up to 10 seconds. Try to breathe normally while you do this exercise.

In addition to being the best way to prevent urinary incontinence, it can also help with sexual performance too. You can practice basically any time. I often find myself practicing while I’m in traffic, because it’s something to help fill the time.
