While I could do one thing at a time, or use a clock or at a timer, getting the notification makes it stress free
Think of it as equivalent to the dryer buzzer. It used to notify us when the laundry was done so we can start the next load, but apparently we need a more complicated way to do that

You can get all that locally without having everything hoovered to the cloud.
The point is some of the functionality is useful and desirable, even if manufacturers make poor choices in implementation
