Walking in general. Physical therapy both sucks super hard and is vastly improving my life. I’ve had a decades long back injury caused by a dog attack, but I’ve apparently been walking in a way that guards a wound not entirely there.
Oh god yes, this. I hate it so much. I’m so glad I’ve gone. Gotta go back as soon as I can afford to get some help with upper back tightness. Fuck the list of 8 new exercises I’m going to get, hate, and find magically fix my prooblem.
In the meantime between getting back to physio, try a cheap TENS unit.
I found a lot of relief by slowly over the course of a few days applying 30 mins of electroshock to my lower back when it acts up.
When I was going to physio, besides the exercises they gave I would get 20 mins of TENS therapy. I figured I could save time and money by just doing the shocking myself as well as my morning stretches.
I have a couple of them. I wish I was better at placing the electrodes. So many positions do basically nothing, or just sting the skin, but when I get them set up right, holy shit is it magic.
Need to order in some replacement gel for the pads, though.
It helps a lot to have another person place them for you.
I find that if I feel the muscle that is causing pain and put a pad on either end of that muscle group then another pad across it in an X shape then I usually get the muscles isolated.
It rarely fixes it in one day. I find if I’m at about 70% of how I normally feel then on day two I wake up feeling 75% normal then 85% on day three and back to normal on day four. People thinking it is instant usually are discouraged in continuing but sticking to it for days in a row is more successful.

Thank you PT.
