The corporate Dems are probably more to blame for the current round of fascists in office than even the MAGA republicans. MAGA was always there in one way or another, but it took Dems actively subverting the candidate that could beat them handily to put them in power.

Though I think the corpo dems are evil and definitely know what they’re doing, I really can’t agree that they’re more at fault than the people actually doing the outright fascism. If the Rs actually kept to their original stances on Trump where most of them openly admitted he was going to ruin our country we would be in a different position too. Also, let’s not act like the R voters are innocent little babies or anything. They knew a lot of terrible things were going to happen and they didn’t care. I personally brought up gay rights and abortion issues to a more socially liberal R and they flat out said they think the most important thing is “getting rid of fraud” (because they think their taxes are too high). If you’re willing to sacrifice rights of others because of imaginary (or real) fraud, you deserve whatever happens.
Agreed. It’s a popular opinion but it treats the opposition like animals that couldn’t know better and will never change, and thus can’t be held accountable. Beefing with bad allies is preferred by many, and sometimes makes sense as a strategic priority (housekeeping) but where its purpose deviates from shared objectives, like stronger collective action, it’s just “in-fighting.”

Fun little article, but in my head I saw the “What year is it!?!” meme, because its just like. The number of people still living in gaslit rooms of their own design around the role of Democrats and the DNC and their role in ushering in fascism.
Its like, you can’t really blame fascists for being fascists? Or like, a leopard wont change its spots, Or rather, your only option to deal with fascists is to eliminate them. And you can’t do that with Democrats when they’re always going to try and play ball with them; when they see fascists as better partners to their agenda than working people.
The problem isn’t the fascists is the point. Fascists are very easily beatable. But not when you have liberals willing to defend them and the structures and institutions fascists depend on.
If Sanders had won, the US and the world would look very different than it does today. And most people would agree that it would be a better place. And yes, fascists absolutely are the problem. It’s very much justified to blame the US Democrats for not opposing the rise of fascism in the US enough but this whole “the liberals are the true fascists” narrative is as tired as it is stupid.
They are saying we have to expect fascists to do what they do. We can’t blame them for that. You can blame individuals for their choices and being fascists but as a group fascists are going to do what they do and it’s up to the rest of us to stop that.
The alternative is to whine and complain all day while doing the exact same thing that got us here. Which is blaming fascists for doing fascist things while doing absolutely nothing to stop them.
