Hopefully other groups will follow their lead. The Grammy Awards have been garbage for a long time but this category really smells of racism.
Yeah, IIRC they did this with latino artists as well, so they can avoid giving them major awards. Their criteria is bullshit too, something like 99% of lyrics shouldn’t be english. So if an asian artist has a big hit but it’s a song in english, then they aren’t eligible.
An argument could be made for many of their categories - keeping eligibility for the biggest award categories to the industry darlings.
