I learned, too late in life, that it’s not worth it to be that pedantic. Luckily, I only learned about this gargoyle thing a few weeks ago. Had I learned about it earlier in life, I would have annoyed a lot of people with it.
That’s technically true, but that Gargoyles animated show was awesome and they didn’t spit water. So under the precedent set by Bugs Bunny on the word “nimrod” the definition of gargoyle needs to be changed.
If it doesn’t function as a downspout, then it’s a grotesque, not a gargoyle.
