    That my mom is dead. I’m not old enough for people to really consider that that stage of life might have happened to me yet.

    Also, that I’m hard of hearing. I’m in my early 30s, speak well, and don’t look disabled. It’s honestly like a superpower how fast people forget when I tell them I’m a lip reader or am (or am not) wearing hearing aids. Sometimes them speaking louder and to my face lasts a whole 2 sentences.

      I’m hard of hearing, but only in the last ~8 years and I didn’t realize how much I’ve come to rely on lip reading to supplement my loss of hearing. I was watching people on YouTube and I couldn’t understand them because it was quiet so I started watching and realized they were speaking French and how that made it so I couldn’t understand them at all because I don’t know French lip reading even though I can understand spoken French fairly well. But yes some people just can’t speak louder for some reason
