The issue we have isn’t so much that people haven’t thought of it as much as there isn’t sufficient userbase to maintain it. Don’t shy away from the subs that only get a post once every few months. If you have something to share there, you can respark interest.
This. Could I name a few communities I’d like to exist on Lemmy? Sure - but I could just go out and make them. The issue is more I don’t think they’d be sustainable as standalone communities.
Yeah, from all I’m gathering, not too many folks on here…yet.
I have hopes people wake up and migrate here.
But bots will be coming to a neighborhood near us soon.
Lots of just super weird people who don’t know how the world works making shit up all the time and then everyone else on Reddit eating it up
I cried in public as a man once because my dad died and I literally got arrested, meanwhile my sister right next to me was also crying and a stranger gave her 100 dollars
And then just like thousands of sincere comments wishing OP well or talking about how this story will definitely get buried by the bitter feminist reddit cabal that don’t want you to know the truth
It’s happened to me. Something similar.
I was picking up my grandmas ashes. On the sad walk home I encountered a thief who stole it.
I reported him and I’m literally shaking right now because I need to have her ashes for school.

This right here. I feel like there’s enough communities to really engage in a super wide variety of topics but not enough people on the fediverse yet
Yeah I’m noticing that this morning. I’m used to a billion comments on Reddit but this site feels way more natural and human.
Definitely. It’s also very difficult to have positive interactions on Reddit.
“Whatever bro. Touch grass and you’re a boomer. etc, etc”

Is there an algo that shows all the small subs? I feel they don’t get in my feed automatically.
Scaled sorting is an option for Lemmy, and it prioritizes less active communities in your feed.
