Pretty sure a lot of of these Apple employees own stock in the company. Perhaps they should remember to cast their vote when it comes time for board elections.

I can guarantee they do. They give stock options to every employee after a few years, including retail employees.

Unfortunately, as you can imagine, it is so little stock that it is effectively meaningless as far as having any sway over the direction of the company.

A protest vote is never meaningless. Sure, they probably don’t own enough stock to kick these people out — but that rising number on the vote tally sends an interesting message.

There was a time when smart people at Apple went off to form new ventures and bring talent with them — companies like Nest and General Magic for example. You don’t see much of that anymore. I do wonder if missteps like this will inspire employees to do this sort of thing again.

Cook will remain at Apple as the executive chairman of the company’s board of directors. In this new role, Apple said Cook will assist with “certain aspects” of the company, including “engaging with policymakers around the world.”

I mean, they can’t be that surprised, when they literally announced Tim Cook was stepping down as CEO to become Trump’s royal cock-gobbler 🤷‍♂️

Isn’t the board of directors basically a group of people who tell the CEO what to do?

When power is consolidated, corruption is easy.

If we enforced antitrust laws and broke Apple and Google into a dozen companies each, then a lot more would have to cave for the same result.

When we don’t enforce anti-trust laws, the biggest will always suck up to whoever is in office to further de-regulate and approve mergers they shouldn’t.

But it’s an insanely easy fix, and were only 2.5 years away from it if everything shakes out

Of the alternatives I’ve tried (mapquest, openstreetmaps, and organic maps) mapquest is my favourite because its got features like home and work and additional destinations you can save. It also have more of the amenities easily searchable.

Organic maps is very no nonsense and works as a GPS router. And osm is more of a mapping tool than a navigation partner.

      They’re all good though

Yes I did… years ago. I also have a 2022 Moto 5G which I use as a glorified iPod Touch. Love that it’s got a big SD card in it. Lotsa room. Lotsa music. Your point is?

Still, Apple’s leadership and most of its rank-and-file are described as “resigned” to these kinds of concessions under Trump’s second term, understanding “that Trump will f— with the company if the company doesn’t do what he wants,” the person said.

    Not exactly courageous leadership.

I still have to use Macs for work but I’m excited to check out what else is out there when the time comes to upgrade my personal devices.
