It is if you also are applying any sauce ingredients to each other’s skin while cooking so you have to lick it off later.
A splash of cayenne for later!
LPT: Apply sugar to all the parts you want to be licked, and cayenne to all the parts you don’t! Train your partner without having to communicate!
This is me. My husband doesn’t mind cooking or helping, but I much prefer to be alone in the kitchen because I really enjoy the process and because I hate explaining what’s going on and how to do things my way.
So, I cook, and he cleans the table and does the dishes. It’s worked for us to 12 years.
Cooking with somebody like minded is one of the best things i ever experienced. But its very rare.
IMHO its never a mistake to atleast try it once. But if it doesnt work out… its time to know your place.
“Do you need anything?”
“Peace and quiet.”
For some reason people laughed as though I made a joke.
make me
Now it is
I really enjoy it when its one person doing prep and one person taking the lead. Or someone assisting with dishes
I think its all about how you work together :)
That’s what I do. While I like baking, when we cook together I prep and clean while he cooks. I do the same when my sister cooks as well.
Exactly what I came here to say.
Maybe OOP just has some romantic notion of doing everything together in exact equal measures.
I’m totally fine with chopping ingredients and staying away from the stove - or the other way round.
It’s nice.
Cooking together is for dom/sub pairs.
Rude of you to call me out like that 😶
Good boy. Now chop the carrots.
Exactly, there is only one person in control and the helper works under instruction.
My wife and I have very different cooking styles. I like my kitchen to be clean with dirty things either washed up or waiting by the sink. My wife is more of the style that the kitchen tells the story of the meal preparation and how all the workspace was used.
LOL, I can relate to this. My partner is the “The recipe expects me to fry this for exactly 7 minutes” type and I am “Yeah 400g or maybe 500g, it’d be awesome if I add ingredient X too”.
We don’t cook together well. The only way we enjoy it is if one gets to be the head chef and the other just follows instructions.
I’m kinda in between. First time I make something I follow the recipe pretty rigidly. If its something I liked and make it again I’ll tweak it or wing it from memory and be close enough that it becomes the new method.

I am the dish girl and my partner is the food girl we got a good system!!
This only works if the food girl doesn’t fell liberated from the need to be economical with dishes! It’s safer to make the cook do the dishes… but it can work the other way.
shes ADHD as hell nothing would ever get done cleanly without me lol
It’s fun if one person can go to a second kitchen and do a different dish.
