Exactly, there is only one person in control and the helper works under instruction.

My wife and I have very different cooking styles. I like my kitchen to be clean with dirty things either washed up or waiting by the sink. My wife is more of the style that the kitchen tells the story of the meal preparation and how all the workspace was used.

LOL, I can relate to this. My partner is the “The recipe expects me to fry this for exactly 7 minutes” type and I am “Yeah 400g or maybe 500g, it’d be awesome if I add ingredient X too”.

We don’t cook together well. The only way we enjoy it is if one gets to be the head chef and the other just follows instructions.

I’m kinda in between. First time I make something I follow the recipe pretty rigidly. If its something I liked and make it again I’ll tweak it or wing it from memory and be close enough that it becomes the new method.
