Much more massive country with a history of innovating and pulling a billion people out of poverty(and not just the standard of that first country, but actually the more massive country’s much higher standard for poverty), which is doing a lot to invest in educating, feeding, and providing safety and healthcare for its own systems and investing massively in its own infrastructure and is quickly switching to solar and other renewable forms of energy and is quickly using dedesertification to try to stop and reverse the spread of deserts and turn them back into forests and vegetation, and is providing energy to a country that said first country is trying to deprive.
The optics look really bad for the first country.
I agree with everything you said except saying that China is “innovating”. China has a long history of espionage and theft to jumpstart many of their technologies someone else developed. The US, Europe, Japan, Korea…I mean look at CXMT’s memory fabrication techniques. They were caught red handed stealing it from Samsung. China has developed many things, but they take many things that they then present as their own work.
China is moving in the right direction with electrification, transit, their belt and road initiatives, etc., but they are not some bastion of Utopia. Not by a long shot. Their support of Cuba is an extension of their soft power globally that the Mango Moron in the US has decided isn’t necessary. China is trying to fill the gigantic power vacuum that the US has left globally by their stupid fucking decisions.

If espionage and theft jumpstarting technologies are not “innovative”, I’ve got some news for you about the “innovative” examples of “good” capitalist businesses in the US. Who, by sheer coincidence, peddle the idea that Chinese industry is somehow “less advanced” than ours, yet who we still rely on to make “our” high tech commodities.
And is this soft power? We aren’t watching Chinese films and blanket idolizing Chinese culture, like with Japan. No, this is hard power in a sense, of material support. It just looks weird to you since you’ve only ever seen hard power in the form of existential domination.

Literally EVERYTHING developed in the United States was innovated by an employee and then the value of that innovation was stolen by their employer.
The United States doesn’t have a leg to stand on when it comes to claiming to innovate. The people who do the actual innovation aren’t mentioned and barely get paid enough money to live.
China literally claims to be a communist country. Well, what’s that mean? It means that when knowledge is known, it’s fair game for the country to use in order to make things better for everyone in the country.
The United States, on the other hand, has the ability to produce enough medication for literally every person who needs it, but creates laws so that businesses can control the production of drugs in order to make as much money as possible regardless of however many people die in the US from not getting the medicines they need.

Why should technology be gate-kept from less developed nations simply because they can’t afford it? That’s just a way to keep them underdeveloped, trapped in perpetual dependency on the more developed nations for so-called “intellectual property”

This is the way it was always done. The French paid English Gentlemen and nobility during industrialisation. Prussia had state sanctioned industry espionage. MR. Siemens himself went undercover as nobility to get information on machines.

No the French invented photovoltaics. Then it was an American who made the first commercial solar panel and Bell labs of the US made the modern solar panel design that we use today. China has been involved in development along the way, but they didn’t start things. Their biggest contribution has been making them cheap and affordable.
China has had plenty of innovations that are incredible. Sodium Ion battery technology is largely a Chinese development with others contributing. There are plenty of things that China has made and they should be proud of. They also steal other’s ideas and try to pull a “I made this” meme. That doesn’t mean they are unique in this manner, though.
American AI companies are thieves, too. The entirety of AI development is bullshit made on the back of human innovation. It’s an abomination. Multiple things can be true. You clearly have an agenda with your whataboutism arguments
The notion that China, or the US, or really anybody is committing theft by utilizing technological innovations, is what should be being discussed here. Individual innovations themselves were never made in a vacuum. Design, or information at large, is not something that can be privately owned. We have patents to give the right to seek super profits to the lucky individual that invents a new tech/process. An immensely lucky individual, who may or may not have actually done the labor to make the patent but is nonetheless the owner of the slip of paper, was born to live with enough resources, in the right places, and born before it was already invented, of course. The innovations that we enjoy today are a result of countless nameless people tinkering and improving, not just a few brilliantly outstanding inventors, who then somehow are a result of the success of a whole nation.
Do you think discovering the principle of something is the same as refining and mass producing it? In that case, plants beat France.
I think that all of the steps in development are important. The French discovered photovoltaics. The US produced the first commercial panel and created the modern panel. China has made panels a commodity, refined the process for producing them, and is the largest producer of solar panels in the world.
All of these things have merit.

No and I never said that. I said it was their largest contribution to the technology, although I’m open to a rebuttle of information, if you have evidence to the contrary. I’m hardly an expert, but I know a good amount of solar panel history.
Maybe try not being so fucking presumptuous and hostile to everyone that presents something you don’t like.

I don’t believe what you’re claiming I do. China, Japan, South Korea…all of these countries have made incredible inventions and technological achievements.
