Cocktails are so expensive these days. I have a very high alcohol tolerance and it’s 10-20$ as bare minimum for <1$ of ingredients. 5 negronis + tip and you’re down at least a 100$. I’m more of a smoker these days but taking people out is such a luxury. If you have 3 friends visiting and buy couple rounds you’re in a triple digit bill already.
I rarely go out anyway. Who wants to mingle with drunk teenagers at bars where the music is so loud that you can barely hear a word, let alone order an overpriced drink at a bar when you instead cab invite friends over, control volume yourself, drink great cocktails, and avoid teenagers?
The bars in my town are not made for the 25+ crowd.

Nonalcoholic beverages are gaining popularity.
Mysteriously, they cost the same even though they miss several layers of taxes.
It enrages me so much I need a drink
That’s why I learned to mix drinks. A dollar a drink and vastly better than most bars in town.
I brew my own mead now. Think it comes to somewhere around £1 per litre bottle.
Good luck trying to mix drinks when you’re out

Yeah, I’ve started learning to make my own cocktails.
