This guy wants power do badly, so he can pull a Right-Wing Mamdani, and be a big conservative hero.

He tried president, he’s trying governor, and if he loses this, I predict he’ll try to be mayor of some city next, probably Cleveland. I grew up in Cleveland, they’re dumb enough to vote for him.

The hyper polarization of our system actually started around the mid 90s with cable news and Republicans taking a take-no-prisoners approach to the Clintons, especially the advent of Murdoch’s Fox News.

Before that era, polling to questions like “How would you feel if your child married someone from the opposite political party?” were a lot more moderate.

Another loser Indian Republican. (I’m Indian and tired of brown people thinking they are white and privileged. If I remember correctly, Bobby Jindal said he was white. Another terrible person)

wealthy indians tend to be super conservatives, especially if they are from a rich caste family back in india, the poorers tend to be more democratic.

Not the way he did it.

I’m a short out of shape woman. I can still pick up a kid that size. Can’t carry them far but I can.

It’s about the heft. You gotta get like this momentum and use your arms in two locations. Around the armpits and the other under the butt.

The other way is if you are going to rest them on your hip. You have them face you directly. Hand under each armpit. Hoist. And again. Get momentum. So there is help pulling them up. And also the kid has to know they need to wrap their legs around your hip.

I guess I dont know for sure if this works for men. As they don’t have hips that can stick out like that. ?

Kids can also do this thing I call the noodle. They go all limp. It makes them impossible to pick up the way that guy is doing it. You absolutely have to do the first method I mentioned.

I don’t even have kids. I’m an auntie. And I used to babysit when I was younger. Which is why I decided to never have children.

But yeah. The “hoist” or “momentum” is necessary.

His handler was probably backstage over the headset, being like, “Code red, code red, he’s trying to pick up the child. I repeat, he’s trying to pick up the child.”

*chucks headset on floor “what the fuck is this idiot doing?!”

Yea, I’m not going to bother looking into this guy at all, but I immediately thought “this guy can’t possibly have kids”. Anyone with kids knows that the regular pickups stop before they reach this kids age. I’m not saying no one could or should pick this kid up, I’m just saying that none of the kids in my life that age expect to be picked up with any regularity, and if someone went to pick them up I’d imagine they were extremely close relatives and accustomed to doing so.

I have made it my goal to pick up my kids as long as they want and I am capable. I will train to keep up if possible. I pick them up at least once a day to keep at it. They are turning 6 and 8.

Not just for my health. That’s the least of it. It’s for them. And for me. Picking them up for a big ole hug is the fuckin best. And I hope it imprints my love for them in their minds.

Vivek Ramaswamy. He is a con-man running for governor of Ohio. He made his fortune by buying a failed alzheimer drug and then lying to investors about its potential in order to jack up the stock price of his company. He is also famous for going on a Christmas day rant, along with Elon Musk, about how entitled and worthless American workers are because we demand things like a living wage and want free time to enjoy things like recreation.

He isn’t doing to well in Ohio fortunately.

Yeah being so physically weak that you can’t pick up a child probably doesn’t go over well in “big huge warrior country” places like Ohio lol

He really is a shitty person. He had a moment during the 2016 primaries but was easily eclipsed by Trumps personality. He was suppose to work on DOGE with Elon but got canned after his Christmas day insult pissed off a ton of MAGA’s. He’s also managed to offend Christians in Ohio, he is a brand of Hindu that believes in a monotheists god but not necessarily a Christian god. He said something like “Jesus Christ isn’t THE God he’s a god” or something like that and you can imagine how that, along with his hindu-lite religious believes, went over with the Bible crowd.

I’m hoping he keeps screwing up.

He’s running for governor in Ohio, but if you lived here you wouldn’t know it. Not a single ad FOR him.

They’re too afraid of their racist base not liking him to show him or his name in any political ad. Instead it’s just attach ads on his opponent making fun of the fact that she tripped on a dog gate once…

Ramaswamy views the LGBTQ community as a cult and trans identity as a mental illness. He has called for prohibiting gender affirming care to minors. He says: “Ohio has barred men from competing with women in women’s sports, and the Supreme Court has now held that it’s constitutional.” He misgenders every trans person he mentions, and makes no effort to hide his disgust.

With Acton, the only potentially offensive thing I have found is one, singular statement, where she says she does not support “boys playing in girls’ sports”.

There is a medical condition called “aphasia”, where a speaker mentally reaches for a word, and grabs the wrong one. People with the condition use words that don’t match their intended meaning. As a parent of a trans kid, I have struggled to make my vocabulary match my intended meaning. Knowing and supporting my child fully, my mind still occasionally reaches for their dead name and gender when I go looking for the right word. Not with any malice, not with any disapproval or disappointment. Just the words I had been using subconsciously for their entire life have become the wrong words, and sometimes my conscious isn’t quick enough with the ones carrying my intended meaning.

I have every reason believe Ramaswamy’s use of “men” is an intentional slur. The man’s entire worldview revolves around the idea of denigrating and insulting LGBTQ in general and trans in particular. He takes great pride in expressing his hatefulness and bigotry at every opportunity.

I think Acton’s use of the word “boys” is more comparable to aphasia. Her (uneducated) concern seems to be ensuring fairness in girls sports. She may not be an overt ally, but she’s done very little to make me think she might be an enemy.

Frankly, the supposed anti-trans sentiment arising from this one statement seems more like GOP propaganda than legitimate concern.

Acton was the head of the Dept of Public Health for the Ohio during COVID

All of the attack ads against her are for her mIsHaNdLiNg the state’s COVID response…and now whataboutisms with someone from 2028 worrying about being able to afford groceries due to her “tax hikes” if she wins.

If the primary weren’t over that question would be important, but at this point the only relevant thing to know is that she’s definitely less bad than the only alternative.

Or what, you just won’t vote? Not even gonna try to vote for someone that clearly aligns more with your issue as opposed to the option that’s entire platform is demonizing the existence of LGBTQ?
