OK, I read the various finger wagger quotes. I’ll concede one point: the shareholders (capital) bear greater responsibility. Yes, he was “just doing his job.” But it’s dirty work, this job.
It’s true that the primary utility of this type of CEO to a shareholder is liability encapsulation, but if someone hires you to do their dirty work, and you take their money, it doesn’t matter that you’re just doing your job.
In short, any henchman should know what he’s signing up for. Those exorbitant salaries are hazard pay, make no mistake. If you take these dirty jobs, and prolong the suffering of millions, I think it’s reasonable to expect that you’ll need to watch your back. Forever.
Sorry to go straight for Godwin’s law, but Eichmann’s entire defense relied on saying he was just doing what he was told, “My fault is only my obedience”. It’s not much of an argument.
Glad I got rid of The Washington Post subscription. We should have significantly less sympathy for either Bezos and Murdoch.
If it was Murdoch or Bezos instead of this guy the parties would still be ongoing
The party is still going but normie socials have came out with heavy suppression and ban hammers.
Revolution is not being televised.
A lot of politics is being shilled again and plebs do appear to be getting back into the circle jerk.
As they’ve shown us already, strongly worded articles and protest don’t do shit.
For every article for team pleb, fake news will whore up 20 pro owner class narratives.
Each little sub groups gets one with their own angle so they really know it is “correct and true”
I pray for them to receive a karmic, consequentialist outcome for all the things they’ve done.

Truth!
This had previously been posted to [email protected] (https://lemmy.world/post/23131889) but was removed as “not politics.” Personally, I think pointing out instances of manufactured consent very much is politics, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Because .world admins, and by extension their mods who have to enforce their policies, are corpo bootlickers
It does seem clear from the messages they write which, coincidentally sound entirely like Reddit marketing tripe, that they are gunning for a corporate buyout and golden parachutes, for a Lemmy instance, which is laughable.
What messages?
I’m assuming their admin messages.
I left when they defederated pirating communities.
Hm, the are federating to dbzer0 where there’s a large piracy community.
They specifically block the pirating communities. You can’t access them from .world
Oh that’s interesting. Yeah, I can’t see them with my .world account. I didn’t realize they could block individual communities for all users.
Kinda off topic, but I wish more of these posts were not on the .world instance. They seem to be giving into the censors and becoming more reddit-like over time.
Very on topic imo
Get off .world yall
As someone that started on Lemmy post Reddit, I found .world to be the most up front and easy to sign up for. I would love to change off of world but I’m not sure the best alternatives or ways to find them? Do you have any recommendations?
join-lemmy.org has a list of instances you can join. If you just want to look through a list that’s a great place to browse.
If you’re looking for specific recommendations I’d say lemm.ee is great in terms of moderation, they don’t overmoderate and tend not to defederate from many places so users can kinda choose themselves whether or not to block an instance. Dbzer0 is similar, it’s the instance with the big piracy community which .world blocked, and the admin is also great.
Both of those are in the top 10 communities in terms of size though iirc, which ideally people would avoid the biggest instances and join smaller ones to try and prevent centralization like what happened with .world communities.
Lemmy.zip is also great from what I’ve heard, and while it’s not small, it’s top 20 instead of top 10 at least.
Wow that’s spot on the kind of information I was looking for! You’re incredible, I appreciate it!
Copying my comment from elsewhere :
You can export your settings, subscriptions, blocklists then import that file on your new instance in your settings. Post/comment history won’t copy over but at least you don’t start over from scratch.
Do you happen to know if there is a way to port comment history to a new account yet, please?
Unfortunately there’s no way to do that yet
Thanks. Hopefully at some point that can be a thing :)

Depends on what your interests are but I’d avoid creating an account or a community on .world (too dominating, and lately are corpo bootlickers, also power tripping mods), .ml (power tripping admin), hexbear (highest troll ratio, active attacks on other instances). There’s good folk on all those but there are big issues w each imo.
I’ve got several accts on different instances. Each have their quirks. Like some don’t allow downvotes or different words, and others are federated or defederated with other instances I wanna see or avoid on occasion
slrpnk.net resonates with me as I work in trying to help the world become more sustainable
The first days of the rush to the fediverse were chaotic, it wasn’t ready for such demand. One of the things lacking was an easy portal to help new users figure out what would work best. The .world instance for whatever reason became the more visible one as more people joined.
You’ve got a few replies to consider - don’t forget that there aren’t just Lemmy instances that see federation, there’s also Mbin (a fork of Kbin) that’s has a different feel to it and can see Mastodon blogs too.
I too would like an answer to this. I started on a much smaller, more local instance, but it would always crashing as soon as I started scrolling. Like every single time I used it. Switched to .world and it’s never happened once.
Sopuli.xyz is a great medium sized instance ran by solid admins, highly recommend.
Feel free to crosspost!
Fox News (12/6/24) quoted one of its own contributors, Joe Concha, saying, “I think this encapsulates the far left’s worldview: If you run a company that isn’t to their liking, you deserve to die.”
This is not about running a random company to someones liking. Its about the company that decides whether people die or not. It literally decides about the life and death of its customers and they wonder why people respond with death threats when the company tries to kill them.
its not just that, it includes forcing people to live with completely treatable unnecessary chronic pain or issues.
It’s profiting off of the suffering of others. It’s evil.
I demand that Bezos and Murdoch outlets shut the fuck up.
Note how both demands will be equally successful.
The common people demand more sympathy for Luigi
Out of all the people who have been shot in NYC in 2024, Brian Thompson is the one I feel the least sorry for. And that includes people I’ve never heard of.
I demand more sympathy for americans with medical issues. Enough to get action to get them healthcare. Once we have that I might have excess sympathy that could be applied to health insurance execs. so get cracking.
I have concepts of thoughts and prayers
I don’t even have those.
