People say this and then you look at voting records in congress and you see them fall in line when the chips are down. Party affiliation and loyalty is what gets you reelection funds and spots on committees, there’s a lot of tangible and intangible pressure applied from the color of the tie.

There’s priority to this stuff. As they say, your freedom to swing your fist ends at my face. Being forced to wear a mask does infringe on freedom, but being forced to contract a potentially deadly disease because you can’t put on a stupid mask is a greater infringement. See also: you don’t have the freedom to drive recklessly, you don’t have the freedom to set off fireworks anywhere you want, you don’t have the freedom to assault people.

          1. Arnie literally isn’t an American. He’s Austrian by birth and obviously hasn’t adopted American values.

          2. Arnie has a right to free speech. But if someone uses their speech to advocate the forcible and violent suppression of other’s rights, that is unAmerican. His statements make it clear that he doesn’t respect American values. He’s a sick authoritarian fuck just like his literal Nazi father.

Lol, you have no constitutional right to endanger the public. Show me a court anywhere in the world that has claimed that the government has no right to institute public health policies.

            doesn’t respect American values

You don’t get to dictate what constitutes American values. In just a couple post you’ve already called an immigrant “literally not American”, and have called that American un-American for exercising free speech. You are not recognizing his constitutional rights, but he lacks American values because…vibes?

a sick authoritarian fuck just like his literal Nazi father.

The US Supreme Court let stand a ruling that said the Transportation Security Administration could require airline passengers to wear masks during the height of the pandemic, keeping in place a precedent issued by a key federal appeals court.

It was overruled by the Supreme Court.

Another regarding indiscriminate lockdowns and restrictions of religious gatherings.

This isn’t saying the government doesn’t have the authority to enact public health laws, it’s simply saying those laws can’t inhibit people from participating in religious gatherings.

Again, it’s just public safety. It’s amazing someone who is so nationalistic won’t make a small sacrifice for his country, like temporarily wearing a mask in public.

Boy the type of people who like to split hairs about what an insurrection is sure don’t split the same hairs when it comes to masking policy.

If you want to see what “forcible masking” looks like, take a look at China. There was nothing remotely similar to that in America.

FYI both links were judges nominated by Trump and rammed through the approval process to specifically do things like this.

The first one was an obvious political stunt, she literally “struck it down” in 2022 when it was extended by .

On April 18, 2022, a week after the CDC’s extension of the public transportation mask mandate through May 3, Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle of the District Court for the Middle District of Florida, struck down the mandate as unlawful in a lawsuit brought by an advocacy group…”

Whew, thank god we had that ruling, I wonder how many lives that helped during that and subsequent COVID surges? Thanks Judge Mizelle! Lmao

Your second link also directly involves a judge appointed by Trump, literally right after she was appointed.

In the 5-4 decision, Justice Amy Coney Barrett, who joined the court last month, was the decisive vote siding with the conservative judges on the bench.

Lmao, wow, would you look at that. Right in your link.

This shit is sad, what are you getting out of this? What’s keeping in your bubble?

2014 it was closer to a third. 2017-2020 it was 42.4%. Given the tred, I wouldn’t be surprised that it’ll be close to or more than half now.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

You’re going to be in great shape,’” Schwarzenegger quipped during a Monday appearance on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

The dig from California’s former GOP governor — a reference to the 91 criminal charges that Trump’s facing in his multiple indictments — came after Kimmel asked Schwarzenegger about the 45th president’s arrest records.

When he turned himself in at Georgia’s Fulton County jail in August over charges related to the 2020 election, Trump’s weight was recorded at 215 pounds.

“Do you think it is possible that he weighs 215 pounds?” Kimmel asked the former bodybuilder, who served on the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports in the 1990s.

Kimmel noted that Schwarzenegger no longer “[seemed] like a Republican” due to his longtime activism to fight climate change and his views on other hot-button issues.

Saying he sometimes touches down in Washington to lobby both Democrats and Republicans to fund after-school programs, Schwarzenegger exclaimed, “I think what we need is really leadership to bring people together and to teach both parties not to look at the other side as the enemy.”

I think what we need is really leadership to bring people together and to teach both parties not to look at the other side as the enemy.

Looking in from the outside (another country) it seems like republicans are very much acting like the enemy (of the democrats, the people, a livable planet, common sense, …) in every possible way and no amount of leadership or compromise will get them to act in good faith.

Yeah as an American I can disagree with people about a lot civilly. Republicans are not acting in good faith or towards acceptable goals. There was once room for considering them not the enemy but that time has passed. If they want to stop being my enemy they can stop being republicans. They’re fortunate enough that the trait that brings them enmity can be discarded.
