“They like to bite off more than they can chew so of course they have to spit it all over the table”

I understand, and agree, that the root of the problem is the amount of abandoned animals but I still think that what peta does is wrong. By accepting more animals than they can care for they are robbing those animals the chance to find a shelter that can actually take them in, or someone willing to adopt them, or a temporary foster home, even a life as a stray could be better than death IMO. Euthanasia should only be used as a last resort, I dont think peta is doing enough to exhaust their options and, I reiterate, they are not allowing others to try by pretending to shelter those animals. A no rejection shelter that kills the animals they cant care for is just a regular shelter with extra (and careless) steps.

If you are pro-pets and do not fund PETA to support all the neglected pets it feels a bit hypocritical to criticize them for euthanizing

    I can barely fund myself

The other shelters are already full, that’s why they take in so many animals. They are the last stop.

Spending more resources on better facilities for the animals and less (preferably none) on AI slop ad campaigns and publicity stunts would be a good start.

Euthanasia should only be used as a last resort

That is… that is what it is now, basically? People in animal shelters generally don’t want to kill the animals, but what are they going to do, if they have places for fifty, and five hundred in need? They are killing them, because it is the last resort. There just are not enough resources for all the dogs - or other animals - needing help.
