Good grief, has she not seen all the advances in medical technology in the last 50 years? Life saving technology? How can someone with such high qualifications be this stupid?
And on a side note, she also says ‘AI is for everyone’. if AI is for everyone, why doesn’t she champion for companies to stop putting AI technologies up behind paywalls and subscriptions? 🤔

That’s a fair point. If only she meant AI as a negative important thing, but unfortunately she is very clearly framing it as a positive important thing, which we know it most certainly isn’t
If you ask who the most important person of the 1940s was (in terms of having the biggest effect on the world, not about being good or bad), it’s quite reasonable to answer “Hitler”. Time Magazine declared Hitler to be “Man of the year” in 1938 for basically that reason, i.e. measuring impact rather than virtue. There was a lot of reader pushback though. Maybe they didn’t use the wisest of criteria for that award.
Right now, AI chips are making a ton of profit for AMD, so Lisa Su’s viewpoint is understandably biased.
It’s not so much that she’s wrong, but that she’s promoting it as a positive thing. I.e. purely a positive thing, without pointing out the massive scale of issues and destruction (I.e. environmental) that AI is gonna cause. It’s as if Oppenheimer tried to say ‘this marvellous invention will help us win the war’ without focussing on the massive loss of life: majorly important tech, but with dire implications.
