I’ve got news for you, Lemmy is not some super obscure underground platform. Yeah it’s a bit too convoluted for a lot of super casual social media users, which helps keep the content well-curated, but it’s publicly indexed and easily findable and definitely also being crawled for AI training.
There’s a difference between feeding it to the slop machine willingly (if maybe unknowingly if they don’t read TOS / follow news) and it being stolen illegally by evilcorps.
The small web is a thing and if you don’t want to pay with your data (“free”) there are ways to get your stuff online without it getting too technical.
