Pro-AI mod bans me from a bunch of communities I never even heard of because he didn’t like my criticism of the fake slop that isn’t art which he posts.

No, not really. I mean, part of it is humans being petty, which is hardly a feature unique to reddit.
The absence or corporate control, monetisation, enshittification and advertiser-placating censorship are significant differences, in my opinion.
That doesn’t mean there’s no censorship at all, but it’s not “no nudity or google might cut your revenue” levels. Can’t do much about personal convictions or governments cracking down on speech except moving instances, which isn’t trivial (and probably should be made easier) but at least offers a freedom reddit doesn’t.
The transparency of moderation activities also helps find, show and address abuse of power, which is another improvement over the opaque nature of reddit moderation.
Aaaaaaand, she got banned here too. What happened now?
Harassment, according to the modlog. I’m guessing the mods here didn’t appreciate the whole “I intentionally made a new account to start shit, started shit, then whined about being banned for trolling” attitude.
Damn. Can’t we all get along? Shame.
Well, I don’t think we can get along with people peddling a technology we consider harmful and immoral, but there’s a difference between “not getting along” and “making a new account just to call the other guys pedos and assholes, then pretending I didn’t do anything to warrant getting banned from their space”.
We could at least have some etiquette though. Not like this kind of venomous hostility is gonna achieve anything except galvanise the opponent.
