The White House has launched another taxpayer-funded television ad before the midterms, this time featuring imagery of President Donald Trump walking down a hall as audio plays of him saying “this is the final battle.”
“We will cast out the communist, Marxists, and fascists. We will throw off the sick political class that hates our country. We will rout the fake news media, and we will liberate America from these villains once and for all,” Trump says in the ad, echoing comments he made during a Veterans Day speech in 2023.

For him, it is the final battle. He is one bad election away from jail and he is on track to lose. Decent Americans (yes, they exist) just need to show up this time.
And therein lies the problem. The decent Americans are too misinformed by the polls, they’ll complacently stay at home. That, or they’re too lazy and arrogant to vote for anyone but their ideal candidate, they’ll sit it out as a show of virtue posturing.
Unrealistic. He is one ‘bad’ election away from being somewhat inconvenienced by having to just always explicitly ignore congress and do whatever he wants without repercussions. If GOP wins as few as three of the senate races that happen, he’s 100% safe from the only consequence considered valid: removal from office.
No criminal prosecution, that’s already established as ‘not applicable’ by the supreme court, on top of the long standing policy of not holding a president currently in office accountable for anything.
In 2028, ok, maybe he could face consequences in theory if all the mechanisms actually work. Very skeptical, and even if he could, it moves at a snail’s pace and they’ll probably run him again in 2032 because they don’t have any better ideas.
Yeah with his health, pretty sure he’ll die before facing any consequence. He’s really good at slowing down these things it seems.

This is a “dog whistle” plea to Christians, in my opinion. The final battle refers to The Apocalypse, when Christians are rescued by the Army of Jesus Christ. After all of the Christians are safe, Jesus and His Holy Army will butcher every non-Christian on the face of the Earth, and the resulting ocean of blood will be as “deep as a horse’s bridle”. (this is clearly described in the Bible).
Fun fact: Churches pay no taxes! They get tax benefits that are over and above any “non-profit”. So, we all finance and enable this tripe. Not only do we pay for this moronic ad, we shoulder the burden for churches, mosques, and temples.
These faiths are already unfathomably wealthy. The Catholic Church owns more land than any other organization, something like 170 million acres.

I doubt it’ll make a difference come midterms, but if we had a remotely functional supreme court this would be immediatley challenged. It shouldn’t have reached the point of spending $315k of taxpayer money per single game ad slot.

The Supreme Court established that the President cannot be held accountable for any conduct (as part of his Official Duties) by anyone except through impeachment. So the President can break any law, as long as 1/2 the House (or 1/3 of the Senate) agrees to let it slide.
It’s not. The people with the authority to do anything about it either won’t or can’t. You’re First Amendment rights are worth 2¢ in a trillion dollar economy. While the 2A was supposedly written to be the follow-up, it has basically the same effect.
The Republicans in Congress could stop all of this at any time. They choose not to. They support it, even if they say otherwise.
Trump will be Trump, but we need to direct our anger at the rest of his party as well, for not holding him accountable. I hope enough people realize this in November.
This is undoubtedly a crime and every minion involved needs to be prosecuted and imprisoned for it once crimes are illegal again.
