Isnt this the point of capitalism like its explained to children? The employer tries to pay the employee as low as necessary while the employee tries to get that “necessary” as high as possible
Whether this ensures a fair compensation or not is a more complex topic, but its not relevant to this
If an employer is paying me the least they think they can get away with, my work performance will be in accordance with that.
Sooner or later people are going to indulge in other forms of desperation :(
