The two popular sites I blogged on from 2001-2012 no longer exist.

Bloggers are now ‘content creators’ and ‘influencers’ on Instagram, tiktok, etc…

There are probably still a few out there, that you just don’t see much for other noise.

I’m not familiar with the topic at all, but here’s potentially some links: https://ooh.directory/blogs/arts/tailoring/

But yeah, sadly the attention sucking mega-sites and apps take plenty of people out of the market for blogging (and other nicer communications). From their perspective, it’s often “why go to all the trouble to self publish, only for most of my audience to never see me because I’m not on [big social media site]”. The new ways are both easier and reach more people.

Not into fashion myself, but video options like YT & TikTok seem like the obvious answer - especially for something like fashion.

Don’t know squat about fashion but I’m guessing same thing that happened to all the other blogs. They moved to YT or Facebook or whatever other corporate social media.

Rules: (interactive)

1) Be nice and; have fun

Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, toxicity and dog-whistling are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them

2) All posts must end with a '?'

This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?

3) No spam

Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.

4) NSFW is okay, within reason

Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either [email protected] or [email protected]. NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].

5) This is not a support community.

It is not a place for ‘how do I?’, type questions. If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email [email protected]. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.

6) No US Politics.

Please don’t post about current US Politics. If you need to do this, try [email protected] or [email protected]

7) No Hit-and-Run questions.

Please don’t delete your post for no apparent reason. If you plan on deleting a question later, say so in the post, or if you feel that you have a good reason to remove it, message a mod beforehand. It’s not fair to the ones who took their time to answer, and it’s not in the spirit of the community.

8) No Bots.

Posts or comments from bots, LLM’s, AIs, Neural Networks, Transformers, or Marvin the Paranoid Android are not welcome in AskLemmy. Real humans only please.
